Features

Everything in the app, on one page.

PatternGrade ships with the tools you actually use to study setups: pattern overlays, backtest panels, a sector heatmap, ticker compare, earnings and watchlists. Everything below is live in the app; the figures shown here are illustrative.

Performance grading

A+, A, and B grades from each pattern's structure.

Every scanner has its own structural rules: base depth, base length, volume contraction, trend stage, R:R. The same chart always earns the same grade, and the rules behind it are written down. No black box.

Grading

The same chart always gets the same grade.

A grade measures one thing: how closely the price action matches the textbook definition of the pattern. Fixed rules, applied the same way every night, with every threshold published — so you can look at the chart and decide whether you agree.

Worked exampleCup & Handle
8 filters · 3 scored factors
First, it either is the pattern or it isn't

Fail any one of these and nothing is returned — there is no low-grade consolation match.

  • ✓A prior advance of at least 30% into the base
  • ✓Cup depth between 12% and 35% below the left rim
  • ✓The two rims within 6% of each other
  • ✓Cup closes fit an upward parabola with R² of 0.70 or better
  • ✓At least 55% of the cup spent in its lower half, and the low near the middle — this is what rejects a V
  • ✓A handle of 5–25 bars that stays below the rim and above the cup midpoint
  • ✓Handle pullback between 2% and 15%, drifting flat or down
  • ✓Handle volume no more than 85% of the cup's average
Then the grade comes from three measurements

Multiplied together into one score, then cut at two fixed thresholds.

Roundness
How well the cup fits a parabola (R²). A ragged base scores lower than a smooth one.
Handle tightness
A shallower handle scores higher. A 3% pullback beats a 14% one.
Rim symmetry
How close the right rim finishes to the left. Level rims score higher.
A+score ≥ 0.80Textbook
Ascore ≥ 0.70Clean
Bbelow 0.70Loose

A grade describes the shape, not the outcome. It is not a probability, not a ranking of which setups will work, and not a suggestion to buy or sell anything.
